Trade Journal

Manually log your stock, options, spread, and crypto trades to build a performance record.

The Trade Journal is where you record every trade you make, regardless of which broker you use. By logging your trades consistently, you build a performance history that helps you understand what's working and what isn't.

Adding a Trade

Click Add Trade to open the trade entry form. Choose your asset type and fill in the details:

Stocks

  • Symbol, side (long or short), quantity, entry price, date

Options (Single Leg)

  • Symbol, side, quantity, entry price, date
  • Strike price, expiration date, put or call

Spreads (Multi-Leg)

  • Short leg: symbol, strike, expiration, put/call, price
  • Long leg: symbol, strike, expiration, put/call, price
  • Quantity, entry date

Crypto

  • Symbol, side, quantity, entry price, date

You can also add a strategy label (e.g., "cash-secured put", "iron condor") and notes to any trade for your own reference.

Closing a Trade

When you exit a position:

  1. Find the trade in your open trades list
  2. Click Close
  3. Enter the exit price and close date
  4. Choose to close the full quantity or a partial amount

Tiblio automatically calculates your P&L based on entry and exit prices, accounting for quantity and commission if entered.

Partial Closes

If you scale out of a position (e.g., close 3 of 5 contracts), enter the partial quantity when closing. The remaining contracts stay open as a separate position.

Max Loss Calculation

For options and spreads, Tiblio calculates and displays your maximum possible loss on each trade. This helps you understand your risk exposure at a glance:

  • Short puts: Strike price × 100 × quantity (minus premium received)
  • Spreads: Width between strikes × 100 × quantity (minus premium received)

Viewing Your Trades

The journal has two views:

  • Open Trades — Positions you currently hold
  • Closed Trades — Completed trades with realized P&L

Use the strategy filter to narrow the view to a specific strategy type.

Exporting

Download your trade history as a CSV file for tax reporting, spreadsheet analysis, or record keeping.
