How to Configure Profit & Loss Alerts

Set up custom alert thresholds so you never miss a profit target or loss limit.

Alerts let Tiblio watch your positions so you don't have to stare at screens all day. Here's how to set them up.

Step 1: Navigate to Alert Settings

Go to Settings > Alerts from the sidebar.

Step 2: Configure Thresholds

You'll see threshold settings for each trade type. Set your preferred levels:

Short Options (Puts or Calls You've Sold)

  • Profit target: When the option has lost this percentage of its value, you'll be alerted to buy it back (default: 50%)
  • Loss threshold: When the option has gained this percentage against you, you'll be alerted (default: 100%)

Long Options

Set separate thresholds for options you've bought — typically a higher profit target and tighter stop-loss.

Spreads

Spread thresholds work on the net position value. Set targets based on the percentage of max profit achieved.

Stocks

For long or short stock positions, set percentage-based profit and loss levels.

Step 3: Set Up Telegram (Optional)

For faster notifications, add Telegram as a delivery channel:

  1. Open the Tiblio bot on Telegram
  2. Send /start to link your account
  3. Alerts will now be delivered to both email and Telegram

Telegram is especially useful for the live 2-minute alert checks — you'll get near-real-time notifications on your phone.

Step 4: Connect Your Broker for Live Alerts

Without a broker, alerts check once per day at 11:30 AM ET using end-of-day data.

With a broker connected, alerts also check every 2 minutes during market hours using live quotes. This means you can catch fast-moving positions within minutes rather than waiting for end-of-day.

Testing Your Setup

After configuring:

  1. Make sure you have at least one open trade in the Trade Journal
  2. Check that your email is verified
  3. If using Telegram, verify the bot responds to /start
  4. Wait for the next alert check cycle — daily at 11:30 AM ET, or every 2 minutes if your broker is connected
